Customer Reviews:

  • "Personally, I thought this piece was too simple, but that is probably because I have played the piano for several years. If you are a beginner, or an intermediate player, then this would probably be a good selection for you. If you are buying this for vocal: I, for one, was disappointed because the accompaniment was very simple, and didn't make the pieces as interesting as they could be. But you also have to consider that most arrangements have to be distorted to fill in all of the instruments in the orchestra that originally played it. But overall, I think this was an enjoyable piece for leisure, and, like most things, it is just a matter of your expertise, and your opinion. Hope this helped!!!"

  • "This book is great...it is as wonderful and breathtaking as the movie and books. As you play, you seem to experience the emotions that the songs portray from the movie."

  • "I agree totally with me from grand rapids. How could you complain. I mean, you can't have everything. Maybe for "Concerning Hobbits" they had too many instruments going at the same time on the treble clef, and if you took one instrument out, it wouldn't be the same song anymore. Also, the Khazadum music is mainly drums, and I don't think that that would be easy to translate onto the piano. So, next time you look at music, look a little closer at what you're buying."

  • "For those looking for the "Concerning Hobbits" theme, "In Dreams" is almost the same song, although the rhythmn is a little off. With a little ear you should be able to fill in the Concerning Hobbits rhythmns and variations; I especially like the jaunty fiddle. What some people call "too easy," I think of as lazy and rushed transcription. There are too many places where the left hand should have been the lower brass counter harmonies, but were instead single notes, and Shore's trademark harmony chord changes and resolutions are lost. C'mon! Take advantage of Shore's brillaint scoring and put something more complex in the left hand. I am rather unhappy that the music for "the Prophesy" was in the collection (doesn't match the movie), while "The Breaking of the Fellowship" (#17 on the soundtrack) is missing entirely. Nor do I think the music is worth the price. "
