"A concerto not for the faint hearted! Its technical demands are great, to the player, and though it may require many hours of practice, the player, as I have found, can reap the rewards of a very challenging, yet exciting concerto. I have myself found the piece very likeable to play, never bored of its difficulty and challenges. A must for any good trumpet player, and once its difficulty has been mastered the audience will love you. Its blend of particular trumpet styles, mixed with the relaxed styles of the second movement and sections of the first, make this a concerto for player and audience alike. It is easily listenable, and I will take joy in playing this concerto for many years to come."

"Well, this is a fairly accurate arrangement of one of the most famous trumpet concertos of all time. The piano scorre is arranged well, and the notes on instrumentation are extremely helpful during rehearsal. The notes are all correct, the melody exactly as Hummel wrote it. The only to problems with this piece are the dynamics and articulations, which are a bit off, and the fact the Hummel originally wrote this in the key of E major, not E-flat, so forget playing along with Wynton. Otherwise, a very useful solo for festivals or concerto competitions."
